Asuka Lin is a Japanese-Taiwanese artist/filmmaker currently based in Los Angeles. They received their BFA in film/video at the California Institute of the Arts in 2018, and since then have DP’d and camera assisted on a number of short films, music videos, and commercials for clients such as Nike, Netflix, and Grubhub. Regarding their own written and directed work, Asuka has recently been awarded Best Experimental Film and Audience Choice Award at the Big Muddy Film Festival, and the Jury’s Choice Award at the Thomas Edison Film Festival for their Super 8 cyberpunk film A.I. Mama. Through visual storytelling, they strive to continually unveil the magic within hidden existences; for it provides a new perspective on symbiotic relationships, contradictions, and the hybrids of life.
